"Heart Failure Research" is a great example of a paper on the cardiovascular system. Heart-failure is one of the scientific research subjects that scientists and other researchers research in order to understand the illness and as a result be able to diagnose and even treat the illness. Scientific research involves many aspects in order to conclusively analyze and understand a given subject. Like other scientific research, Heart failure requires first to know the main causes by testing a group of people, the questions may be, is the illness hereditary, natural causes, or even contagious.
The research also involves the signs and the people who are more likely to suffer from the illness. It may also involve the treatment and diagnostics for the illness and other aspects. Scientific research is therefore broad and requires a lot of time and analysis in order to come up with the correct and conclusive results and information. This paper looks at the advantages and/or disadvantages of a research proposal as well as assessing the weaknesses of qualitative research as a research method in real science. There are many advantages of using a research approach in scientific matters or aspects.
First, the research is useful in explaining a complex phenomenon. Scientific procedures, processes, and aspects are always complex subjects that require a lot of research and conclusive inquiry in order to be fully explained (Yin, 2007). The research approach either qualitative or quantitative is important in explaining the complex phenomenon. For instance, if one was to look at heart failure it is important to know the causes and the people who are at a higher risk which can only be done through research.
The research is also important in understanding how and why a phenomenon occurs. For example, if researchers were to investigate the reason and how a heart failure occurs in a human being conducting research is essential in understanding the phenomenon. It is also important in getting a relationship between one aspect and another. For instance, research conducted on heart-failure patients reveals that patients with very high cholesterol are at a higher risk of suffering from heart-failure than others. Therefore there is a correlation between cholesterol intake and heart failure which can only be noted through research.
Research is also important in giving detailed information about a phenomenon as it examines, investigates, and analyses a given phenomenon completely. Research is the only way that researchers are able to conclusively give a detailed report and have an expounded view about a phenomenon. For instance, heart-failure patients may want to know how to reduce the risk of death if an attack happens and some of the medication that is useful for what age group. These specific details can only be attained if research is conducted on the phenomenon.
Research is an important aspect of any scientific study and will always be used by all scientists to try and firmly come up with an unquestionable and unchallengeable hypothesis about a given scientific phenomenon. Qualitative research is one of the research approaches used by researchers while trying to understand a given aspect. It involves investigating the peoples’ feelings and experiences rather than the statistical data (Seale, 2009). It is therefore considered by some of the researchers as a method that is not reliable in research involving real science.
The researchers argue that the knowledge obtained from the few people that the research is conducted on may not generalize to all people. For example, if one is testing for the prevalence of heart-failure problems and you only have a population that is made up of vegetarians there are chances that one may rule out cholesterol as one of the main causes of a higher risk of the illness. The researchers also argue that it is more difficult to test hypotheses and theories on qualitative research since there are no values that one may refer to or compare with.
The qualitative method is also time-consuming since the collection and analysis of data are both very tedious and take a lot of time.
