Nurses should be managed by nurses who understand their needs and are aware of the challenges they face in the course of the performance of their duties and provide better working conditions. Nurses should be sensitive to the needs of the patients despite differences in culture and tailor quality provision to these people owing to increased cultural integration in the country. The working conditions of the nurses should be conducive, safe, and aimed at promoting satisfaction with the nursing profession is what the nursing profession needs to achieve. There are certain strategies that can be harnessed to reach the desired situation including improving the predictability of work schedules for nurses, letting nurses manage themselves through trust nurses, ensuring nursing degrees are tailored for the augmentation of confidence in student-nurses to work as a nurse, introducing preceptorship programs for all new nurses to integrate them well to the nursing field.
Other strategies include giving nurses protected time to study to augment their skills and update these skills regularly and equipping the work environment of nurses that promoted patient dignity and is adequately equipped (Gordon, S.
(2005). Further strategies are providing multicultural information to nurses to augment diversity awareness, augmenting research, and development in nursing, and implementing nursing improvement events (Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing et al. , 2001) Progress is evaluated through the effectiveness of nurses to carry on their duties with confidence, efficiency in job performance and satisfaction as reported by patients, better working nursing environment, satisfaction by nurses in the performance of their duties, and high intake of nurses in nursing degrees due to the responsiveness of the program to nursing needs and practice.
