"Diabetes Nutrition Game" is an engrossing example of a paper on diabetes mellitus. The following diabetes nutrition game is aimed at helping diabetic patients learn the best diet to help in reducing the disease as well as increasing their life span. It will take one minute at most and will be very much involving. The game will also be mind-challenging because participants will perform activities in the shortest time possible (In Edelstein, 2015). The game will be interesting and will involve only adults affected by diabetes. Three teams will be formed in each team containing fifteen participants.
Each team will then be divided into sub-groups of five participants to form three subgroups in each team. Different food nutrients will be supplied to the groups. The five participants will compete in identifying the food nutrients in a maximum time of five seconds. Marks will be recorded in different subgroups, and the food nutrients will be interchanged among the subgroups in the different teams. The procedure will be repeated nine times among the groups which will take a maximum of forty-five seconds. The subgroup marks will be combined to make up the team marks of every team.
There will be a comparison of the performance of the three groups to help come up with the best team. The answers to the various nutrients will be distributed to every individual to help them understand the different nutrients and the importance of such nutrients to their health. After completion of the game, different food nutrients will be awarded to the teams with respect to their performance (In Edelstein, 2015). The primary aim of the game is to test the knowledge of patients on nutrients.
The game will help participants gain knowledge of different food nutrients as well as evaluating the level of carbohydrates in each food item. The test will very much benefit the type two diabetes patients who are most affected by a lack of knowledge of the food types and the best nutrition. Apart from testing the patients on their knowledge of carbohydrates, the game also educates the patients on the best foods to use (Griffith, Shegog, Thompson, McAlister, et al. 2009). The game takes the shortest time possible and it is easy to participate.
In addition, it is one of the most fascinating games because it engages the patients and allows them to think more about the types of carbohydrates that give the body energy. Patients come from the game excited and with much knowledge of the nutrients; they are expected to consume. When individuals learn the best nutrients and type of foods to use, they are in a position to prevent many other diseases. An example of such diseases brought by diabetes malnutrition includes; blood circulation problems, kidney diseases, eye problems among others.
Such conditions may lead to blindness, damaging nerves, among other vital organs in the human body. Patients will be in a position to control their eating habits by participating in the games. They will know how to eat healthily since after the game they are guided on the importance of healthy eating habits. It is also vital in the management of diabetes. Additionally, the food people consume affects their blood sugar, body weight and their heart condition (In Edelstein, 2015).
