The aim of the game is to be the first player to reach the end by moving across the board from square 0 to square 79. You will travel the board from base to top, left, then right, and so on. Commence playing. The first player to roll 1 can enter the board (sometimes it is 6). Each subsequent player must also throw a 1 or 6 to enter the board.

The dice must be rolled again to show the number of squares that the player entering the board may move initially. Place the marker on the appropriate square. Continue playing. You each take a go. The person with the highest amount starts first. The person with the second-highest goes 2nd and so on, BUT DO NOT MOVE THE COUNTER. Complete the game. This is a serious problem in the sense that it affects both the country’ s financial power and economic development. Regarding the financial losses, the Government of Australia reported spent $836 million in 2000-1 on diseases related to or caused by diabetes mellitus (AIHW, 2010). Judging from this, the government would be short of funds to spend on other vital programmes for the citizens. Similarly, since diabetes mellitus will make people fall sick and not strong enough to work, this may affect the economic production in the country. The adverse effect of this is that the amount of production will be drastically and this will affect the economic outlook of Australia.

If these trends are left unchecked, it could make the country uncompetitive and fall behind in the comity of developed countries. It is in this interest that the Australian Government is doing everything possible to implement programmes that would help people to deal with the problems coming from diabetes mellitus 2 (AIHW, 2010). Some of the determinants of health, basically, are some factors that an ordinary citizen of Australia may not be able to control: for example, the political and economic situations of the country, the environment, and the social attitude.

However, the main determinants of health that could be modified personally are personal behaviours and individual characteristics. How do Australians control their lifestyles? What kinds of diet do they eat? Do they live healthily? How about going to the medical experts for regular pieces of advice? All these issues definitely determine the level or condition of health of the individuals. Hence, this is why the Australian Government comes in: some health promotion programmes are instituted by the Australian Government to encourage living healthily and getting the necessary hints about good health from the respective health professionals.

This is very important in the sense that citizens will be well aware of the causes of diabetes mellitus 2; they will understand the screening procedures; they will learn how to prevent its occurrence while taking appropriate treatment. The first approach to solving the problem of bad behaviour towards health issues is to, first of all, assess the individuals and find out what the wrong attitudes are.

It is then possible to proffer solutions to transform such an individual into a state of being conscious about his or her health (Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, 2010). Australians suffering from diabetes mellitus 2 have three avenues through which they could receive medical attention to this problem. Starting from the first step, they could visit their community health centres or primary health centres to listen to pieces of advice from community health practitioners, who would give them simple and straightforward advice on how to handle this disease.

They could learn simple hints about choosing their diet, doing exercises, and monitoring their feet. Secondary health promotion with regard to diabetes mellitus 2 involves going to the hospitals that are equipped for the purpose of attending to the needs of people with diabetes mellitus 2. The hospitals have sophisticated equipment that could be used to diagnose diabetes mellitus 2; they also have insulin injection apparatus that could help the health specialist to quickly attend to those diabetics in dire need of medical attention. The tertiary health promotion for diabetes mellitus 2 consists of using the private specialists and health professionals that own their clinics.

These specialists carry in-depth tests on the patients to determine the level of their health and offer advice on how they could be in good health ( Feinglos & Bethel, 2008). The game I designed above called “ Get Stronger Game” is a vital tool of health promotion for people suffering from diabetes mellitus 2. It does not matter what the condition of the diabetes patients could be, it works for all categories of people affected by diabetes mellitus.   What the patients could gain from the game are many: they could learn about how to take good care of themselves; they could learn about diagnosis, treatment and health management; and they could understand the appropriate health professionals to go to for help.

There is no time limit for the application of this game. Diabetes sufferers can use the game at any time to learn more about their health status. Why it is important for diabetics to use this game is that they are likely going to learn many things about the health status in an interesting way, and enjoying following the useful tips provided by the game.

The community nurse, as well as doctors and other health professionals, can use this game to teach the diabetics the danger of living an unhealthy life which could affect their quality of life. This is an important step in the sense that this broad knowledge about diabetes mellitus 2 simply described in a fun game may help the Australian Government to save a lot of resources that would have been spent on capital-intensive health promotion programs that may or may not achieve the same purpose as the simple game.

This game should be played every time so that the diabetics can constantly remember the important facts they need to keep to their hearts while living under the influence of this deadly disease. More so, they could reduce their expenses on maintaining their health if they could pay attention to the contents of the game.
