Certainly, the field of medicine seems to enter a period of democratization as power is transferred from hospitals, physicians and other care providers to clients/patients, potentially resulting in dramatic improvements in the health care sector.

This paper tries to assess the impact of technology on the health care industry. New Technology Requirements for Health Care Industry                       Health information technology (health IT) is one of the most significant new technology requirements for the industry of health care. Health IT entails the exchange of information regarding health matters in an electronic environment (Ciampa & Revels, 2013). Health IT has a lot of significance in health care systems because its widespread use within the health care system will help; Improve health care quality, Reduce the costs of health care, Prevent medical errors, Decrease paperwork, Elevate administrative efficiencies Increase access to cost-effective health care. Providers before approaching the implementation of the health IT should be fully aware of the importance of ensuring the security and privacy of electronic health information since this information is electronically transmitted and maintained.

Generally, the providers should approach the implementation of health IT through developing a governing body that oversees the management and development of the health IT system, and creating a standard technical architecture used in the identification and match of patients in addition to storing their demographic information. Health care information systems are characterized by an information technology that has improved the safety, quality, and efficiency of health care (Ciampa & Revels, 2013). Several websites have rendered health information more accessible to patients, thus their role in care decisions gets strengthened. Additionally, IT also helps clients to select providers through allowing insurers and Medicare to post providers’ information including, in some cases, relatively quality information. However, in order to further ensure a health care system that is more efficient, and provides better quality and safety, there is a need for technological innovations and modifications. This simply implies that new technological innovations have to be made in the health care industry so that several lives can be saved. EHR simply is a digital version of a paper chart for an individual patient. It is a real-time patient-centered record, which makes information accessible and available securely and instantly to authorized personnel or users. EHR system contains patient’ s medical and treatment histories and is built in such a way that it goes beyond standard medical data collected in the office of a provider (Hench, Jones & Fenn, 2012).

Additionally, it can comprise a broader view of the care provided to a patient. Normally EHRs can; Allow the right of entry to evidence-based tools, which can help providers in making decisions concerning the care provided to a patient. Encompass the medical history, diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, laboratory and test results, immunization dates, radiology images, and allergies of a patient. A major benefit of adopting the EHR system is the likelihood to replace or considerably reduce the use of patient’ s paper charts.

This benefit ensures an improvement in access to patient information by permitting simultaneous access to medical information by physicians and/or staff, including fewer delays in searching for or waiting for the charts. In addition, most of the EHRs will allow physicians to get access to patient records remotely (Spekowius & Wendler, 2010). This aspect can give an individual in the community access from home, from a mobile device or from the hospital.                       Other additional benefits that community members may obtain when health institutions apply the use of EHRs include; Competitive Advantage More and more health care centers are likely to implement EHRs in the coming years.

Therefore, physicians, staff members, and patients will have expectations that a practice exhibits an EHR and will most likely prefer health care facilities that use EHR compared to those that do not use the electronic system. With the patient’ s data explosion, most clinicians have become reliant on accessing real-time systems of IT to improve the lives of their patients (Spekowius & Wendler, 2010).

Therefore, it would be important for senior health care leaders to push the boundaries of IT management. This can be achieved through an integration of technology to provide medical professionals with the information they require, wherever they require it. In other words, when there is the integration of various kinds of technology the outcomes become much more satisfactory since most of the challenges are easily eliminated.
