There are various modes of treatment that are usually applied to ensure that affected persons are treated from such injuries (Scott, 2012). This discussion will focus on a reflection of the treatment of ankle injury through the use of x-rays. The reflective model that shall be used in this discussion is the Gibbs Reflection model: The Gibbs’ Reflection Model entails the use of six fundamental stages to provide information in relation to a certain issue for instance: Description of an issue or even an event; provision of feelings as well as thoughts about an issue; evaluation that entails giving judgment about this mode of treatment using secondary references to support the judgment; analysis that shall involve a description of the associated benefits and challenges ascribed to the use of x-rays in treating ankle injuries; conclusion as well as the action plan/ recommendations. Description of Ankle Injury and X-ray Treatment Method                       Ankle injury is also known as ankle sprain in some cases.

Medical research has shown that that are various causes of ankle injury within the society. The first cause of ankle injury is associated with movement. This movement specifically those that lead to; rolling as well as twisting and turning of the foot area has been regarded as the major cause of an ankle injury. There are various sporting activities that are riskier in regard to an ankle injury for example Movement of the ankle on a side to side manner during sporting activities like long tennis, basketball or even badminton.                       In some cases, ankle injuries may occur while undertakes normal daily activities especially when one slips and falls on a slippery floor et cetera.

However, when one assumes normal activities without undergoing proper treatment of the ligaments of the injured ankle, he/she may experience more pain in later days owing to the fact that the ligaments may return back to their normal positions in a stretched manner that causing instability of the ankle as one walks.

There are also some factors that may increase the risk of ankle injury among individuals; the first factor is the existence of a scenario where an individual has weak ankle muscles or even tendons. The other risk factor occurs when one moves on an uneven or rugged surface causing inappropriate ankle movement. Reflection on the Use of X-ray to Treat Ankle Injury                       The use of an x-ray to facilitate the treatment of ankle injury is usually pertinent to determine bone fractures at the ankle through undertaking an x-ray scan.

This is usually undertaken by qualified medical personnel, specifically radiologists. In this regard, the mode of treatment is only recommended for extreme ankle injuries that involve possible bone fractures rather than those that entail simple over-stretch of ligaments.                       The modus operandi of an x-ray method to facilitate the treatment of ankle injury entails the use of the radiographic method. This involves the use of electromagnetic radiation to create an imaging technique that has a clear view of any possible fractures or any form of bone abnormality (Scott, 2012).

It can also be used to perform other tests involving the injury of other body parts for instance; testing injuries on the rib cages et cetera.                       Personal Opinion on the use of X-ray Technology to Treat Ankle Injury X-ray provides a perfect methodology for diagnosing ankle injuries, specifically fractures that may occur along the ankle. It is apparent that the use of an x-ray to facilitate the treatment of ankle injury is usually accompanied by other treatment processes. This is due to the fact that x-ray is basically used to examine existing fractures, but does not provide the actual treatment. In addition, the treatment of ankle injury using the x-ray technique also involves the involvement of various health practitioners for instance: The involvement of the radiologist, a specialist in the application of x-ray technique to examine various body injuries and the involvement of the physiotherapists who provide the real treatment after receiving results from the radiologists. Evaluation of the Use of X-ray to Treat Ankle Injuries                       The application of x-ray to facilitate the treatment of various injuries is the most effective mode of treatment that has been in use over time.

This method enables health practitioners to determine the specific challenges faced by an individual in a particular part of the body. In regard to the treatment of ankle injury, it creates a perfect medical platform for an effective examination of the fractures that may affect the ankle (Scott, 2012).     Analysis There are various benefits associated with the use of x-ray as a mode of ankle injury treatment. To begin with, the application of this technology to examine ankle injury is considered the best alternative owing to the fact that it enables a medical practitioner to examine the bone arrangement of the ankle thus giving him/her the opportunity to identify possible fractures (Scott, 2012).

The ankle is a complex joint that may pose greater challenges when it comes to diagnosis, thus x-ray provides the best method of diagnosing fractures in this part of the body. Moreover, there are other uses of x-ray technology in the medical field for example; the analysis of DNA, development of images of various body organs et cetera (Kumar & Kumar, 2013). On the other hand, there are certain health risks that are usually associated with the application of x-ray technology to facilitate treatment not only in ankle injury but also in other parts of the body.

To begin, with the use of x-ray to examine bone fractures among pregnant women is not appropriate as it may tamper with the normal development of the fetus (Kumar & Kumar, 2013). Continuous use of x-rays has also been associated with loss of hair among the medical practitioners and in extreme cases, may even cause burns (Scott, 2012). Conclusion and Recommendations     Ankle injury is a common challenge for various sportspersons.

This requires proper treatment as well as medications; however, it is apparent that the use of x-ray technology has been effective only in the examination of fractures that may occur in the event of an ankle injury. This has compelled medical practitioners to recommend their client to physiotherapists for further treatment. Despite the fact that this method has been quite effective in facilitating the treatment of injured ankles, it has also been criticized for the side effects of x-ray radiation.

Therefore, it is imperative that more research is undertaken to facilitate the development of more effective methods with no side effects.
